Oh, I’d place the blame squarely on verstappen’s shoulders. Why be a dick to your own teammate? And he’s been showing his impatience and propensity to make unnecessary risky moves over the past few races.

Thank you for posting this, you made the race more exciting for me.
I DVR’d the race and accidentally saw this post and spent the whole race until they crashed thinking “They touched wheels, are they going to do something worse than touching wheels? OMG what going to happen?”

Not sure if he was the one who pulled the dick move, the blames seems to be 50/50 at best, worst puts it higher on Ricky this time.

Max moved twice, first to the right then back to the left to block. That’s illegal in F1. You need to pick your line and hold it, regardless of what the car behind you does.

I think the rule is one move under braking, which was the case, that’s why he wasn’t penalized for his “double” move.
Maybe Ric shouldn’t have committed so aggressively in the corner against a team mate after they were both told to take it easy after several close encounters during the race.
Either way, Christian Horner blamed both of them for the incident.

Would’ve likely never happened had verstappen not pissed away so much time earlier defending against riccardo. Danny ric wouldve been ahead and gaining on the leaders and likely never been back behind max. But hindsight and all.

Absolutely true, but no team orders right? The faster car should go ahead to make the most of it, but Red Bull lets them race.
And as you know, team mates in racing aren’t best friends, it’s your primary competitor and the person you are judged directly against.
Careers are made on how you compare to your team mate during the season.

Very true, that’s comes with the territory I guess. I’d be more inclined to work together and know my teammate had my back next time around and vice versa. But these guys are under tremendous pressure all the time. Sometimes it might not be bad for a cooler head to step in and give the orders. It’d be different if it were a blatant, hey let this guy past and he’s got a sub par car, but in his case, it seemed that Danny Ric has the faster car and was just being impeded by max. It sucks for both of them though. Still a great race.

I thought that was Hamilton and Rosberg after Spain 2016.
